What's happening at GEMS Public School, Bhopal?

To marks the beginning of the summer solstice - the longest day of the year, “Fête de la Musique” or “World Music Day” is celebrated on June 21 every year.

GPS, Bhopal celebrated ‘World Music Day’ with great enthusiasm. Students from various houses performed group songs in a special assembly. Information about the world musicians and different musical instruments were given by the teachers to make the students aware of how people love music and how it can bring appositive change in lives. The assembly was planned to help the students to enhance their knowledge of music.

Students showed their respect for the fathers by means of speeches and performances. Students, teachers and staff of GPS, Bhopal, celebrated Father’s Day at its premises. Special assembly was conducted to acknowledge fathers’ dedications, devotions and also the efforts made by them in raising & nurturing their families.

To honor one’s own mother as well as motherhood, mothers’ day was celebrated in capital mall on 13 May, 2018 by GEMS Public School with a large number of parents, students and staff members. Students presented a few poems, slogans, quotes and heart touching dance skits also. Mothers also participated with full enthusiasm. The Principal Mrs. Archana Sharma appreciated the efforts of the students, teachers and mothers.

“A Kaleidoscopic View of India“

The programme commenced with the traditional ceremony of lamp lighting by all the dignitaries and the principal, Mrs. Archana Sharma, after formal welcome of the eminent guests the principal presented annual report of the school. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony where the dignitaries gave away with the prizes to the achievers of the school. Then a rainbow of cultural programmes presented by the students which they prepared under the able guidance of teachers. The theme of the show is “A kaleidoscopic View of India”.The entire show was revolving around our country. I t was designed to show thevibrant and colorful festivals, Culture and Religion, Places and people of India. The chief guest DGP, Bhopal, Mr. K.N.Tiwari motivated the student and congratulated all the students and teachers for a successful Annual day.

Date: 29th March, 2018

The school organised Graduation Ceremony for the students of class Pre Primary on 29th March. The learning of whole year was well presented by the k-2 students .Students presented the concept of EVS, Languages and Maths with full of their confidence. The most important part of the day- Graduation Ceremony began with the tiny tots of Pre Primary dressed in Graduation robes and caps walking the stage. The Principal and the Chief Guest felicitated the students with trophies and certificates of graduation. Kids were applauded and felicitated for their commendable performance in the year. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by the Coordinator-Kindergarten.

Date: 26th January, 2018

69th Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January 2018 with lot of pomp and show in the school premises. Students, staff members, parents and guests witnessed the wonderful sight of the high and fluttering Indian tricolor flag hoisted by the principal of the school, Mrs. Archana Sharma who expressed his delight at the end of the programme. The celebration started with the singing of heart touching patriotic sand inspirational songs by the Students. Teachers and guests delivered the speeches acknowledging the freedom fighters for their sacrifices.

The Bonfire for warmth and joys of life, Rewri and Gajak to sweeten the relationships, Moong phalli and Till to add crispness to the actions, and the kite flying high denotes Success!

GPS BHOPAL celebrated Makar Sankranti on 12 January 2018. The festival of harvest was celebrated with utmost zeal and enthusiasm.

The students showed their innovative and artistic sides by making kites of vibrant and glittering colors. The entire GPS family along with staff and teachers wore traditional attires and celebrated the festival with full diligence and solemnity.

Date: 23rd December, 2017

GPS Bhopal, celebrated Christmas with great fervour. Beautiful festive look was created using bells, streamers and Christmas trees. It was the day to spread the message of love and joy among our children. The students from pre-nursery to Class VII, actively participated in the carnival and put a wonderful show. It was a fun-enthused day and the entire field was filled with people of all age-groups enjoying themselves at various stalls like DIY-activities, fun-games, finger-licking food and photo-booth. The entire school vibrated with Christmas carols. A mini musical skit was prepared by the teachers to let the students know about the birth of Lord Jesus and the legend of Santa Claus.

Date: 14th November, 2017

Capital mall, Bhopal was set to bring lot of fun to the kids. There were various competitions arranged by GPS, Bhopal on this occasion. The activities besides being high on the fun measures were also be educational at the same time and designed to help the children’s raise their awareness levels. Students were overwhelmed with the entire efforts made by the teachers. Their happiness was evident from the way they were cheering up their friends on as they saw them on stage.

Date: 13th October, 2017

The celebration of ‘The festival of lights' came alive at GEMS Public School, on 13th of October when the rangoli art done by students and teachers during the CCA Activity. Students talked about the significance of the festival. They shared their views on the victory of good on evil and also about why and how Diwali is celebrated across India.

Besides sensitizing students to the ill-effects of crackers, teachers shared the guidelines on how to protect ourselves while some one is bursting them. The students showcased the spirit of Diwali through a mesmerizing dance presentation. The activity concluded with the message by Principal, Mrs. Archana Sharma on clean, peaceful and a bright Diwali.


Date: 28th September, 2017

The school staff (including academic and non-academic) presented   Ram Leela on the occasion of Vijayadashami. The staff members enacted scenes from Ram Leela with great simplicity and confidence. They portrayed Ramayana characters such as Lord Rama, Laxman, Sita, Bharat, Shatrughan, Hanuman, Jatayu, Ravana, etc. with great magnificence.

Chaupais and dohas from Ramcharitra Manas were sung at regular intervals which further added to the devotional mood of the evening. The Viewers appreciated the efforts of the teachers in making the event a grand success.

Teachers’ Day was celebrated on Tuesday, 5th September in the school with great zeal. It was a great fun and surprise when teachers and students saw parents in the roles of teachers and to act like them. Students presented flowers to their teachers and took autographs from acting teachers (parents).

Mrs. Archana Sharma shared a few words of encouragement for the parents who had worked for days behind the scenes to organise the event. It was actually a day for the teachers to relax, enjoy and feel the love and attention they received from their students!

DATE: 24th September, 2017

In order to organise an awareness campaign for school children on the need of promoting eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi, students of GPS, Bhopal showcased a fascinating sense of distinctiveness by making Ganesha idol using clay and other material safe for environment. Art and craft teacher Mrs. Kanika Hazari was a source of inspiration for everyone.

The outcome of the event was heart-warming and well appreciated by all!

A story Telling session was organised for the tiny tots of grade Nursery to KGII with an objective to ignite the art of public speaking along with the development of language skill and voice modulation in the learners.

Shades of Yellow stimulates our little ones with happiness, energy and optimism….!!

A day dedicated to the yellow colour was celebrated by the pre-primary group with an objects to make it a complete “Yellow Day”!

Tiffin boxes were filled with bananas, custard, jelly, pineapples etc. Attractive yellow colored toys like racing cars, teddy bears, dolls, balls, balloons, flying discs, flowers and masks made the learning environment active and sporty.

A hand printing activity and colour splash activity were also conducted in the KG classes. The children enjoyed these activities and were very happy. The teachers were beaming with pride to see the little ones developingtheir awareness for yellow colour.

To mark World Photography Day our schoolhosted a presentation competition where the students of the school were asked to give a presentation on the best photographs of their family. The idea behind this contest was to develop passion for photography. The theme for this activity was - “MY FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHS”. Everyone applauded efforts of the students and the in-charge teachers to make the event a success. Principal, Mrs. Archana Sharma encouraged the students to nurture their talents in the field of photography.

On 15th August, the school celebrated Independence Day with zeal and spirit befitting the occasion. Parents were invited to grace the occasion. The Indian tricolor was unfurled and national anthem was sung by all in the school field.

The cultural program began with the welcome speech delivered by the principal, Mrs. Archana Sharma. The showcase of taekwondo skills clubbed with daring stunts by the students of grade two to seven was well applauded. An inter-house speech competition on patriotism was conducted for the students of Grade 2-7. Students of all the four houses participated in this competition and presented their thoughts.

GPS Bhopal celebrated Janmashthami with great zeal and fervour. A number of activities were organised to mark the birthday of Lord Krishna. The whole campus was with a festive look. Dahi Handi competition was organised for kids. Children were in the get up of Radhas and Krishnas.A fabulous Ras Garba performance was given by the mothers of students. A musical skit was also presented by teachers depicting the relevance of unity and brotherhood. Sweets were distributed among the students and the faculty. Principal congratulated the students for their excellent presentations and stressed upon the need for peace, unity and brotherhood.

On the occasion Raksha Bandhan, the School organized a special programme to educate students about the significance of this festival. Rakhi-making competition was held where students made many beautiful Rakhis using decorative threads, stars, mirrors, pearls and flowers.

All the students were in colourful traditional Indian dresses. Teachers told them about sacred bond between brother and sister. Students were made familiarized with the customs and rituals followed on Raksha Bandhan. Girls tied Rakhi on the wrist of boys and offered candies to boys and boys gave them assurance of safety and lifelong promise to protect them.

The Kindergarten section of GEMS Public School celebrated Blue Day on 28th Jul’17.  It was a pleasant and a cool blue day for the tiny tots. The significance of blue colour was reiterated through a series of academic activities. The dress code of the day was blue. Excitement was visible everywhere. The classrooms were decorated with blue balloons and efforts were made to introduce all the shades of blue to the children. An array of blue colored objects like umbrella, ball, cloud, flowers, dresses, eatables, etc. were at displayed thus providing the students opportunities to have a clear sense of the colour and its importance.

Literature opens the doors of imagination and allows us to feel the way others feel. In order to bring the students closer to literature and to understand its universal appeal English Week was celebrated at GPS Bhopal.

The school celebrated ‘English Week’ where linguistic skills development sessions with fun-filled activities were conducted from 24 July to 28 July, 2017. A series of events was conducted with the motive to enhance the vocabulary, enhance written and spoken expression and foster the reading habit in the students. It was an effort to make learning more enjoyable.

A Special Assembly on World Population Day was conducted on 11th of July. The purpose of this assembly was to increase the awareness of the students towards the worldwide population issues. The following message “To go for a Balanced Diet” was distributed among the students by correlating it with the population issue. A skit presentation was given by students of grade 5th 6th & 7th.

Evacuation as well as Fire Drill were organized with the support of Mr. Satish Shrivastava and his team members from SIS security in order to create awareness amongst students and staff members about the various evacuation techniques and minimize the impact of the disaster through quick response.

Mr. Shrivastava demonstrated and explained the various fire extinguishing processes. All the students along with the staff members of the institution participated in this drill exercise. The staff members and students understood the various nuances of Fire Safety measures, extinguishing procedures and emergency evacuation techniques. The principal, Mrs. Archana Sharma thanked the officials of SIS for conducting the Drill.

A welcome ceremony was held on the first day of the school for the students of GPS, Bhopal on 5th June. Students of all the grades attended and participated in the programme which was a blend of recitation of rhymes, singing of songs, dances and playing games under the guidance of teachers. Everyone enjoyed their first day of school in a fun-filled manner. Principal, Mrs. Archana Sharma gave a brief introduction of all the teachers and told students about the need of getting education for the real world.

A great care is being taken at GEMS to help new children settle into their new way of life in the school by organising a range of induction and orientation activities. Induction programme for new students was conducted by the school management. Students got an opportunity to meet their teachers and other staff members, see the entire school through a model map and School Visit activity.
